Corporate Profile


Philippine National Bank Los Angeles Branch (PNBLA) started in 1964 as a Representative Office in San Francisco. In 1967, its license was upgraded to a Depository Agency that enabled it to provide remittance services and to accept deposits which are directly related to trade transactions financed or participated in by the Head Office.

The Agency was transferred to Los Angeles in 1981 and was upgraded to a Wholesale Branch in 1984. As a Wholesale Branch, PNBLA may accept deposits in the amount of $250,000 or more pursuant to California Financial Code Section 1755. It may accept deposits of less than the required amount from a foreign nation, an agency or instrumentality of a foreign nation and certain specified persons.

The branch’s activities include providing loans through the "Own A Philippine Home Loan" (OPHL) program to Filipinos and foreigners living in the U.S. who wish to buy or build home in the Philippines, participating in the Direct Deposit Program for U.S. pensioners, processing incoming and outgoing ACH/Fedwire transfers, and facilitating the opening and servicing of peso and dollar deposit accounts of U.S. residents with the PNB branches in the Philippines.

PNBLA is regulated by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco (FRBSF) and the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI).
