PNB expands cash withdrawal service through RD Pawnshop

The country’s fifth largest lender, Philippine National Bank (PSE: PNB), is giving its customers more options for cash withdrawal through its partnership with RD Pawnshop, one of the leading pawnshop chains in the country. The Lucio Tan-led universal bank is the provider of the POS network that allows bank customers to conveniently withdraw cash from 100 select RD Pawnshop branches nationwide: 15 branches in Luzon, 43 branches in Visayas, and 42 branches in Mindanao.

This is a welcome news for bank customers especially now that the enhanced community quarantine was extended until May 15. Most banks have adopted shortened banking hours as part of social distancing measures for both clients and employees.

PNB’s sector head for Institutional Banking, EVP Cenon “Jun” Audencial, Jr., says that access to cash has become more urgent now that the public has very limited time outside their homes. “We would like the public to know that they do not need to limit themselves to bank withdrawals,” says Audencial. “We are thankful to RD Pawnshop for choosing PNB as their partner for their cash withdrawal service. This is very helpful to customers of all banks.”

This joint initiative of PNB and RD Pawnshop has been available since second quarter of last year. Customers of PNB and other banks can dip or swipe their Debit, Cash, or Prepaid card on the POS cash-out terminal. Transactions are secure as customers need to use their own PIN. They can collect their cash and the receipt from the pawnshop cashier.

Select PNB branches nationwide are open to serve customers’ banking needs. To view the list of open branches, customers can visit PNB’s official Facebook page (@PNBph) and click Notes on the left panel.
