Protect Yourself from Financial Scams

For your safety and security, be aware of the different tactics and schemes of scammers in seizing opportunities to access and take control of your bank accounts.

Find out below the most common signs of scams:

Fake Identity

To make you feel at ease with them, scammers will try to convince you that they are a representative of a bank or a reputable organization. Before responding to their request or concern, make sure to confirm the person’s identity. It would be best for you to call the bank or organization directly to verify if the person is truly connected with them or if they are giving credible information.

Always remember that banks and institutions will NEVER ask for your username, password, PIN, CVV, and One-Time PIN (OTP).

Unofficial Website or Contact Details

Spoofing is one of the techniques scammers do to steal your identity and get your money. They will contact you either via email or text message using your bank’s official name and number. The source of their messages or emails would make you believe that it is your bank who is contacting you and asking for your personal and bank information.

If you think you have encountered a spoofing scam, DO NOT CLICK any link stated on the message and contact your bank through their official contact number or email immediately.

Demand for Urgent Action

If the message or call wants you to take action right away, then most of the time, it is from a scammer. Most of the time they would want you to settle an account immediately or even ask your account details to update your account.

If it involves transferring money quickly, don’t act on it right away. Verify the concern first with your bank by contacting their official hotline or their official online channels. Be suspicious and be vigilant especially if the other person wants you to transfer funds in an unusual way. Also, KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT SECURE by setting strong passwords, and do not share your account details (username, passwords, and PINs) with anyone.

We care about your safety. Remember to be vigilant and alert when you encounter any scam. If you think your account has been compromised, contact your bank immediately to suspend and protect your account.
